Hedorah and Inoue by earthbaragon Hedorah and Inoue by earthbaragon
I stepped up my game a bit for this huh haha ;) This was a long 50 plus hour piece from start to finish easy, but I am so happy and overwhelmed with how it came out. I hope you all like it as much as I had making it. Anyway…….on to the description.

Yasuyuki Inoue was truly one of the greats of the kaiju world. The man’s work helped influence my childhood easily and it was sad to see his passing. This was the driving force behind this when I took my approach to this month’s Art Jam at :iconkaijuden:. I wanted really to bust out a good tribute to the man. I included every form of Hedorah, including the tadpole swimming in a water orb. Messed with each monster’s color to really give that 70’s bright color scheme. Slapped in some paint splats (from the infamous nightclub scene from the film Godzilla vs. Hedorah). Threw in some smokestacks and a factory (but again threw in some color and 70’s style graphics. Finally I did Inoue as best as I could. I really am horrible at drawing people, so I hope that my lack of talent in that department did some justice to the man.

All in all I am pretty freaking ecstatic with this one. It’s not often I get to draw a Toho kaiju. Mainly cause they are popular and I just like to focus on more of the obscured monsters to help educate people haha.

Remember, this is not eligible for anything in the Art Jam. It is just my contribution for fans.

Why are they green?

I didn't want them all to be blackish and green. It would have looked like one blob of a mess and you wouldn't be able to see any detail or tell who the heck is who. And as you can see with the splat background, I wanted to play up the "colorfulness" of the film and the late 60's and 70's. Lots of psychedelic colors and bright clashing figures. So I wanted to make the monsters more in tune with the era they were created. Made them all different so they would stand out from each other.

This is one of the best Hedorah pieces I've ever seen! You got the eyes perfectly!

Gorgeous work on Hedorah and all his different forms! Hedorah was certainly one of the most imaginative of the late showa era villain kaiju. Keep up the great work

Thanks :) And yes he was a very imaginative monster. One I don't ever want to draw again! ;) That slimy skin texture was a pain to shade lol. Then again.............so will the scales on the Ghidorah I am doing next. *sigh* That is going to be another gigantic piece with more cross over monsters and characters then you can shake a stick at.

This is has got to be your best work. Looks freakin' amazing and, surprisingly, the various shades of green REALLY look good on Heddy.

Thankx :) I had to do the different shades. Didn't want them all to be the same blobish color haha. Gave me a chance to really capture that 70's feel for the movie.

Thankx. I worked so hard on this one. But it was nice to see a full concept drawing go from pencil to the computer without having me changing things in it.

Great job, bud. I dig how you turned it into a tribute piece and used those 'funky' colors. And all those Hedorah eyes are creeping me out! :fear:

Yeah, that is a whole bunch of unblinking eyes. My hand hurts now from that shading. I'm not doing another Hedorah ever. I've had my fill of that type of skin texture. I had a gigantic King Ghidorah piece lined up next.......but that might be put off for a bit. Though I really want to do it. How often do you get to put a monster from a Three Stooges movie in with the King of Gold Ghidorah. :) And a few other select deadly monsters all battling the dragon as well :) That's going to be an interesting one ;)
