*Sigh*…..this is another big illustration from me that depicts two of the most powerful villains ever in the history of the kaiju world. While I was drawing this, my immediate opinion was that Neo Pandon would have this in the bag. After all, he is a monster that has trounced Ultraseven in nearly every battle they have had. But as I colored and shaded it (which was a looooooooooong time), it got me to thinking of the abilities and prowess of the original Showa King Ghidorah. So…here is my breakdown of the two demons.
Neo Pandon is the reconstructed form of the original deceased Pandon from Ultraseven. So already this monster is greater in every which way that made the original Pandon so deadly. Neo Pandon’s best strength, is in fact lies with his brawn and physicality. His muscled body has unbelievable power. This monster loves to make things close quarters, and just rind his foes limb from limb with his strength. He even was able to capture Ultraseven’s Eye slugger in midair! A metal blade weapon that is surrounded by energy when it is thrown. Normally it would slice through any foe, but against Pandon, it get’s turn into a baseball it can catch. But don’t let this fool you, Pandon is more than just a gladiator like monster. He has plenty of abilities for distance battles. Each of his heads can fire a concentrated stream of fire, as well as spit explosive fireballs. Each attack contains lots of heat and power; able to destroy an entire landscape in a volley of fiery hate. Add his long muscular tail, and ability to tunnel underground, Neo Pandon is a triumphing foe that can deal with any challenge.
King Ghidorah is a space beast that found it’s origins in the deepest of Space. Not only can this creature fly incredibly well (he can take off from a standing position without so much as a single flap of his wings), he can survive the ice cold and airless environment of the countless nebulas. Each head can shoot an “anti-gravity beam” (seriously the hell makes this things anti-gravity?), that can wipe out a city in moments. His body is bulky and sturdy, able to slam into foes at nearly mach 2, without so much as a scratch on him. His scales give the monster a serious edge when dealing with projectiles thrown at him. He walked towards Godzilla, even though he blasted him twice with his nuclear breath on Planet X! It didn’t even make him hesitate. His energy bolts though seem to vary in strength. They can destroy a city in seconds and even stop a charging Gorosaurus in his tracks. But they doesn’t seem to faze Godzilla at all. Don’t even knock him over in their first battle. Still, they are more often depicted with limitless power, than the later of which instance that I pointed out. But they are shown to have more……force than heat.
If Neo Pandon could get in close, there is no argument he would do damage. But that is the question. Ghidorah has proven that he likes to keep his enemies at a distance. Even though those heads are always wiping around, the dragon has proven that he does have aim. Better aim than Neo Pandon. The dragon’s blasts are certainly more powerful than Pandon’s fires. But like I said they do not have a lot of heat or energy behind them. They are more like a powerful hammer just slams into things. He unleashes enough of them though to weather down any foe. Pandon’s on the other hand are explosive heat. Fire and energy that Ghidorah proved he can survive against when he was born from the hell flames of his meteor home, and Godzilla’s nuclear breath. Also, with his quick ability of flight at a moment’s breath, the three headed beast has speed to his advantage. The only way Pandon could finish off Ghidorah is if he got in close. But that is a big “if”, if he could. Ghidorah has shown he can take a heck of a lot of brutal physical punishments against foes that dare to stand right next to him. The more I think of it, the more I just favor the Toho monster. His energy beams might not kill Pandon right off hand, but they would with barrage after barrage.
So, final verdict for me…………The original Gold King of Terror, Showa King Ghidorah, triumphs against the newly Revived Twin Head Beast, Neo Pandon.
Woah………..I’m tired now. Nap time time! I feel sad when I nap on my day off of work, but sue me
